INTRODUCTION
Samsong is a Nigerian gospel artist and a multi award winner.
He has had a successful recording career with radio hits like Bianule, and a handful of accolades.
He has had collaborations with Gospel greats like Marvin Winans, Donnie McClurkin and also Panam Percy Paul.
EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Born on November 30th 1974 in Delta State, Nigeria. He is the 7th child in a family of 9 children.
Samsong studied Accounting, worked in the Central Bank of Nigeria and later worked in Golf Bank.
He actually wanted to be the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
He later resigned from the bank and plunged into gospel entertainment.
MUSIC BEGINS
Samsong discovered his talent as a singer in high school where he was nicknamed Samsong.
He formed a quartet “Praise Creation” in 1991 and in 1996 they released an album “Best of Life”.
The group broke up and he became a solo artist releasing his debut album “Count Your Blessings”
which was a success as it won him The Psalmist Award that same year.
CAREER
In 2004 his sophomore album “Still Counting” was released. This album also got him awards –
- The Best Male Vocalist of the Year Award at Today’s Music Award in 2004, and
- Best Male Vocalist of The Year Award in 2005 at The Amen Awards.
He released his 3rd album “The World of My Dreams” released in 2007,
featured a remake of One Love by the music legend Onyeka Onwenu
and also a duet with her and also a duet with Styl-Plus titled Live Right.
- These album got him the Grace Honorary Award for Excellence.
He embarked on an international tour to promote his cd, with stops at South Africa, the United Kingdom and Germany.
In Germany, he had recorded and performed with Chris Lass, the German gospel producer and artist.
He also toured the island of Seychelles, and was privileged to have dinner with the Vice President, Joseph Belmont.
Apart from being a singer he has a clothing line that’s called Boogie Down and has also made appearances in Christian movies.
